The United Kingdom consists four countries : England, Northern Ireland , Scotland or Wales. In England a parlimentary system was established as the form of government and as the seat of government in london. It is also a consitutional monarchy with the Queen Elizabeth II as the head of state. The monarch is the head of the UK and fifteen other countries known as the Commonwealth as : Antigua and Barbadua , Australia, the Bahamas, the Bahamas, Barbados, Canada, Belize, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Greandines, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu and United Kingdom. All these countries are called realm countries which create the union because of the language and the Queen. Nowdays the rule of Queen is symbolic but the English speaking people like traditions and treat the Queen as the sign of their identity. In all these contries common law is official but there are differences between coutries as British law, Canadian law or Australian law. It is law based on common law and equity law which is different than law in continental law. The UK has a consitution but this consitution is not written but unwritten but of course there are statutes , court judgments or European treaties. The Queen is the head of the country who has some prerorgatives  as : the commander in chief of all the armed forces , the dissolution of the Parilament , the declaration of war or the calling of elections, the withdrawl of passports. The UK monarchy is a constutional monarchy and it is not an absolute monarchy. A lot of people say the phrase '' The Queen reigns but does not rule''.
