Itching, scaly, cracked skin? Sounds familiar? These are the common effects of having dry skin. In less serious cases it is only annoying and quite uncomfortable, but in serious cases it's like and illness that we have to deal with. So, how can you deal with this problem and help your dry skin?

Dry skin is one of the most popular skin conditions. Skin doesn't have to be dry all over the body – only parts of it might be dry...and those parts may bother us. Sometimes a good moisturiser is enough to change a bad condition. Because, of course, dry skin needs to be treated in a right way. But there are cases when moisturiser is not enough. To find a best remedy we need to know the major causes of dry skin.

There might be several reasons why our skin is really dry. We can split them into four major groups:

Environment: Our skin might be dry because of the weather. In winter months dry skin can plague because of the lack of humidity in the air (specially when we have radiators at our room). And on the other hand at summer time our skin is exposed at the sun and being in the sun for prolonged periods, even with sun block, can lead to excessive dryness of the skin because of sun damages . Also the air might be really dry when it is very worm. The solution for that might be drinking more water and moisturising the skin.

Wrong diet: Mistakes in diet have a great impact on our skin. Not enough glasses of water a day, poor diet, too much caffeine or alcohol, lack of vitamins A and C, and fast foods are killers of our beauty and good condition of our skin. By choosing a different, skin-friendly diet you can help keep your skin hydrated, healthy, and glowing. Such diet might also help reduce the effects of other dry skin causes.

Hard water: Not all of us know in what type of water they live: hard or soft. And when having a hard water at home we might have bigger problems with our skin being dry. Because hard water deposits and cleansing products are left on the skin, it can cause our skin to become more irritated and susceptible to damage. Hard water can even cause skin to become thinner and aggravate skin conditions, such as rosacea. The easiest way is to remove hard water, water softening, by using water filter.

As you might see the key to help your dry skin is mostly water – not only the outside one but mostly the inside one. We have to drink a lot of water to make our skin more beautiful and flexible, and wash it in a soft (sometimes mineral) water to make it glow.
